Change Is Inevitable

Change is always going to occur in the business world. The speed at which business is conducted is ever-changing and constantly increasing. Organizations in today's economy must harness the ability to become flexible with changing times. This can be as simple as managing changing processes, change in personnel or change in overall strategy of a business. When organizations become complacent, then struggle and cannot move forward with successes and growth. This can be termed agility.

Agility: the power of moving quickly and easily

The time is now for organizations to embrace change, become flexible and strive for continued growth and success and stop waiting for relief form someone else. You are in control of your own destiny.

Expertise and drive comes full cirlce

I've learned that there are times when there lacks a drive and motivation to keep working hard. But, I've recently realized that maintaining that drive can pay off. It's a great feeling when you're contacted within your company as a subject matter expert and asked to review proposals and speak to the sales team and help to motivate and demonstrate the value of an activity.

Continued drive, even in the slow and difficult times does pay off in the end.

Hard work once again pays off

I finished the busy part of the year for me recently with the publishing on our annual benchmarking report. I've received feedback that it is the most professional report we've produced so far. Talk about some great feedback. Persistence and hard work does pay off. Granted, when you're in the thick of things...it can be easy to throw in the towel and give up. But the reward in the end is so great, you'd never think of doing it again if you can maintain your momentum and push through to the end.

Work hard...but also remember to work smarter!

Details

Details are important. Never forget that. Despite having a hyper focus on details and the correlation between one thing and another, a detailed focus will always payoff in the end. I just completed coordinating an event for my employer and it was completed quite successfully. The devil is in the details and I focused much of my efforts on the details. As a result, it was a success.

The big picture is always important in developing a focus and a strategy however the details will determine success of the big picture.

Plan

Have a Plan. Seriously.

Planning is critical to the success of any project plus allows for the detailing of all activities involved. Without a plan, you run the risk of missing something small...or...missing something big.

Second...stick to the plan. Yes, there will be small deviations but do your best to stick to the plan. It is your guide. Allow it to guide you.

Just a few thoughts relating to a current project...I need this reminder just as much as anyone else.

Goal Setting

Set Goals - period.

Set goals for yourself and take the steps necessary to achieve them. Warning: Some sacrifice, pain, frustration, and patience is involved. Result: Success.

Baby Steps to a Business

Its been awhile since I posted in this business-related blog. I recently finished a financial management class with the same professor I will have for my business plan class at the end of my program for my MBA. I've already gotten some information to begin that business plan (b-plan) project. However, I also recently started a marketing management course which requires me to complete a marketing plan in 8 weeks.

Now, granted, a business plan has a marketing plan component. Unfortunately, I won't be able to sue this marketing plan in my final b-plan since the marketing plan will be on a different service offering and a different company. But, that's ok.

I will at least be able to learn the process and requirements to better position me for the b-plan in the end.

Now, you ask, what will the b-plan be based on? Well, my dream is my own marketing consulting business...but I won't know for sure if this will be the end result. I do have another idea floating around, but it is a group project so we'll have to just wait and see. Stay tuned!
